Why You Should Tap Into The Pool of Passive Candidates For Quality Talent

Posted February 14, 2017

The traditional hiring method generally relies on people actively looking for a new job. They require putting up a job description on a job board and waiting for people to respond. That leaves out 85% of the potential candidates, some of whom are likely to be your best bet for hiring quality talent.

Passive candidates already have a job and are not actively seeking another one. But that does not mean that they are perfectly happy with the job they have. They may be part of the workforce that is keeping an ear out for new opportunities. That is a large pool of talent, and the individuals who aren't actively looking have potential benefits over active job seekers.

The CEB Recruiting Leadership Council Global Labour Market Briefing found that passive candidates are 25% more likely to remain with the new employer for the long-term. Research suggests that this at least partially due to a better recruitment process being implemented for hiring them, but there are some intrinsic advantages, too. The passive recruit may demand more upfront, but you know they were using the skills that you are looking for recently. They have information about competitors that you can only get from an insider, and you can be sure of their cultural fit since you know what culture they were working in before.

In the face of ever-changing hiring needs, casting a wide net to find the exactly right person for your position is critical to success. This is why Nextaff  posts job descriptions to social media and developed their X-Factor process to recruit and all the best candidates for your opening. Their recruitment strategy not only gets everyone qualified, but ensures that the candidate will work for your position no matter where that person was recruited from.
